Dear Goddess,
As we step into this new year, let's declare it loudly and proudly: This is our year to shine! For women over 40, who have weathered enough storms, it's time to reclaim our voice, our time, and the opportunities that belong to us.
Last week, we talked about writing the vision and making it plain. This week, we're taking the bull by the horns. Shirley Chisholm once said, "If there isn't a seat at the table, bring your own chair." Well, we're not just bringing chairs; we're pulling up with enough for 'my sisters and me.' Because we are our sisters' keeper, and together, we're claiming what's rightfully ours.
Our community isn't about gatekeeping all the good information; it's about looking out for each other. I grew up in a place where we not only watched out for our neighbors' kids but the entire community. It's a spirit we're carrying forward.
So, what are you doing to pass the baton, leave a legacy, and tell the stories that matter? Our shared stories have components of laughter, grace, and nuggets of love expertly interwoven, much like the quilts my grandma used to make. We all took turns learning how to thread the needle, find the patches, and identify the parts of the blanket that we contributed.
This week, I invite you to take a moment to journal or start a family craft. Embrace the winter hibernation with warm memories and a cup of cozy brilliance. It's a time for reflection, for celebrating our shared journey, and for laying the foundation for the brilliance that lies ahead.
Let's make 2024 a year of triumph, unity, and unapologetic brilliance. Together, we're unstoppable.
Wishing you warmth and brilliance,
Shauna Monique
