Overwhelmed? Stressed? Your Body Holds the Key to Healing

taylorpatterson11

Hey Y’all,

Do you ever feel like your mind is racing, your body is exhausted, and no matter how much you think your way through stress, the anxiety just won’t go away?

You’re not alone, women.

Stress and anxiety aren’t just mental struggles—they live in the body. Unprocessed emotions get stored in our muscles, our breath, even the way we carry ourselves. That’s why traditional “mindset shifts” don’t always work—because true healing begins in the body.

The Missing Link: Movement as Medicine

‘Most adults don’t realize how much they need to dance. We’ve been taught that movement is for kids, that life is about pushing through, staying in control, and keeping it all together’ says Allison Pagano, my coach and mentor, in a recent post.  But, suppressing emotions isn’t strength—it’s survival mode. And living in survival mode keeps us stuck, stressed, and disconnected.

The good news? Your body already knows how to heal.Somatic movement, dance, and embodied practices help you reset your nervous system, release stored tension, and reclaim your natural energy.

Here’s how to start:

3 Daily Practices to Feel Limitless at Any Age

1. Move with Intention (Somatic Dance & Rebounding)

Your body isn’t just meant to exercise—it’s meant to move for healing.

  • Studies show that somatic movement helps release trauma and reduce anxiety (The Body Keeps the Score, van der Kolk).

  • Rebounding (mini-trampoline movement) stimulates the lymphatic system, reduces inflammation, and improves circulation (NASA Research, 1980).

Try This: Spend 5-10 minutes swaying, stretching, or rebounding each morning to gently wake up your nervous system.

2. Activate the Vagus Nerve (Your Body’s Reset Button)

The vagus nerve helps regulate stress, digestion, and emotional balance.

  • Stimulating the vagus nerve lowers inflammation and improves mood (Frontiers in Psychiatry, 2018).

  • Deep breathing, humming, and even cold exposure can activate this powerful healing system.

Try This: Breathe in slowly, then exhale longer than your inhale. Humming or singing also sends signals of safety to your brain.

3. Align Mind, Body & Spirit (Scripture & Self-Talk)

When we align our thoughts with the wisdom of our bodies, transformation happens.

  • Science meets faith: Repeating affirmations while engaging the body rewires neural pathways for peace(Neuropsychologia, 2020).

  • The Bible reminds us: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”– Isaiah 26:3

Try This: When you feel anxious, place your hand on your heart, take a deep breath, and repeat:"I am safe. I am whole. My body knows the way."

This is More Than Dance. It’s Liberation.

I found my way back to myself through movement. Dance healed me of anxiety and Crohn’s disease, and I return to it daily—not to perform, but to own my voice, embody my truth, and integrate what my mind alone couldn’t process.  It’s the way to Ease and Flow.

If you’ve been feeling disconnected, anxious, or stuck in survival mode, know this: your body is the key to your healing.  It’s the key to abundance!!!

Let’s reclaim movement as our birthright. Let’s dance to heal. Let’s remember who we truly are.
